Capri - An Italian eatery @ Asiatique Riverfront Market

Capri - An Italian Restaurant serving an array of scrumptious dishes  including Italian as well as Thai and International dishes. Located amidst the busy Riverside night market-  Asiatique @ chareonKrung road. This restaurant is a must-visit for Italian lovers. Be prepared to shell out approximately 500 per person. Dishes start from Baht 250.

Judge a book by its cover, that’s what we did, literally. If presentation is to be taken into consideration, this place will earn brownie points – hands down.  The food presentation will really entice you. Be it your table or your neighbors. But don’t expect the taste to be as fancy as the look.  It might lack a bit of seasoning or more, so make sure the seasoning basket sits right atop your table.

Ambiance:

The ambiance is nice and blue with wooden blue chairs and tables.  * Please note - Don't get too comfortable as there aint any upholstered furniture.  There are hard and high-school like chairs.  But the cool blue and cobalt blue shades give the place a friendly vibe, so it's fine. A bit Mediterranean sort of a vibe, really.

This place also has elements of a warehouse as you will find drop ceiling light fixtures suspended from the ceiling. This aluminum bodied lights are in the shape of a pumpkin.
Its initial branch houses in K-Village at Sukhumvit 26, an open-air shopping arcade.  It is overall, a bit noisy in the inside and not so comfortable. Enjoy the food and move out kind-of-a-place.

Food: Let’s talk about how fabulous the food really is...

Don’t miss their Signature Dish – The oven-baked pizzas. They come with the requisite thin crust and crispy edge, but by the time it reaches your table, it might turn a bit soft.
Do not expect too much of seasoning on the food, better keep your seasoning bottles pre=ordered on your table (If not served, already )

What we ordered..

Veggie Pizza

Crust is not very thin and not very fluffy either, it’s just about perfect. Not too salted mozzarella cheese melted to perfection dressed with thinly sliced veggies like capsicum, mushroom – sprinkled with stewed basil leaves ( I wish there were just washed and thrown on top  - it lost its fresh flavor in the cooking process)

Mushroom also was too overcooked – left a tad bit too much of its pungent taste in the pizza
Overall the crust made me happy – the pizza overall was soft and delectable – I did sprinkle loads of pepper, Italian seasoning on top, though.

Mushroom and Cheese Risotto:
It’s one of my favourite orders, whenever I am in any Italian eatery. Risotto is not like any other Italian dishes being served, since its mainly about the creamy texture and the rice cooked – both need 50-50 attention, equally.
This one however lacked the perfect texture. The cheese was way to creamy, however the rice was cooked just fine. It was way to bland and lacked any flavour immensely, I felt it was just creamy and mushy. I had to yet again throw in a lot of  pepper , Italian seasoning and ummmm, Salt . I also felt the mushroom flavor felt a bit flat.

Caramel Tiramisu

Well, I do not have a sweet tooth. But even if you don’t order food over here, make sure you do shout out for a dessert. Brilliant presentation – food menu names will definitely tickle your taste buds.

I felt I wanted to dive in the Menu for a second. If caramel custard is a passé, Crème Brulee still rules the charts of the desserts Menu. Creamy and sweet, rich and buttery caramel mousse with a caramelized crust at the bottom breaking into flavors of slightly burnt sugar with a hint of coffee  into the mouth releasing its caramelized flavors  and the smell of caramel just instantly activated endorphin in my brain. ( chemicals in the brains which makes you feel good ) And then onward I was a happy bunny.

Cold chocolate Lava

A ball of vanilla scoop alongside a spoon of whipped crème nicely dressed with sprigs of Basil leaves and topped with a cherry sitting on top. Dig in for a bite and wait for the liquidy chocolate inside to ooze our like #foodporn, giving your mouth a full on satisfactory orgasm.

The thin and crispy layer of chocolate outside leads to a melting treat inside. The burst of chocolate lava into the mouth accompanied by the a small portion of vanilla ice-cream is the perfect blend of a hot molten chocolate with cold milky ice-cream!

Hoegaarden Rosee

If you are fond of beer, definitely don’t miss out on this one. A tall jug of Hoegaarden Rosee – A Rose Beer with 3% ABV (Alcohol Beverage Volume) .

Also I saw many tables relishing gigantic sized crab dishes and pizza’s which seemed to have sliced ham, so I assume the ham and cheese something pizzas are quiet a thing and so are the seafood items doing well.

Price : Expensive. Approx 500 Baht per person
Service: Very Poor - Impatient foodies – this place ain't for you!
Food : Will call you again, for sure
Ambiance: Inside is a bit noisy - uncomfortable seating
Overall rating = 3/5
