Our trip to Kanchanaburi!
I am re-posting this from my earlier blog which I had thrashed!
When you want to run away from your busy schedule and the
same old people, the only thought that pops in your mind are pristine beaches, lush
green mountains and tropical weather – that’s what Thailand offers!
Well, I did not opt for the beaches, but I sure did want
such scenic beauty to calm my mind and refresh my soul, jus like some people
feel when they do yoga.
Nestled in about 256 kms from Bangkok, round about a 4 hr
run, is the beautiful hill station called Kanchanaburi. Me and my husband hired
a cab and till we knew we had covered about 256 km in about 5 hours. With
respective butt aches we got off and stretched the fat cat out of the us. Phew!
Massive common pool |
Just in time to capture the beautiful morning rays minus the
heat. We arrived at our destination at Kanchanaburi district and resorted ourselves in Mida
resort. The beauty was breath-taking. The resort was stretched across huge acre
of land. A big property, but I guess some of it belongs to private bunglowing.
As per our booking we were slated for a Tent for one night
and a Pool villa for the other. Simple
reason we wanted to get the feel of Rags to Riches! lol. The tent was river facing,
the famous river Kwai, Yes it was built on the bank of the river. So when you
are in your tent, trust me or not, you can even jump out and dip into the
river. But the beauty holds the breath wen you sit back and watch the calm
river flow by you. Maybe ill try posting the video. The first 2 hours I just
spent with a hot cup of coffee, watching the river motion by. And smiled like a
retard feeling immensely happy. But ofcourse I would, it’s a getaway and I can
get away with anything. ;)
Larger than life - The tent |
After my mute and dumb 2 hrs, my hubby finally got me off
and took me around the hotel. The facilities were amazing .It had a very
alluring swimming pool which I wanted to dip into asap. Outside was the Dj
console for pool parties. It also had a Karaoke room, as Thai people are
bonkers after Karaoke, we dint even try getting in because we were sure there wouldn’t
be one single English track in there. There was a dart board, a pool table and
ping pong table in the game section which was just besides the bar. The Bar had
a very Brooklyn like feel to it with tall wooden bar stools and stuff. An
extensive range of cocktails and happy happy hours J
So after looking around we headed straight to the Restaurant
which offered both Thai as well as western cuisine. We ordered out favourite
Thai food and enjoyed every bite with gusto. The restaurant had the, an arched
roof, more like an open-air restaurant.
The Restaurant |
The next day was when we were goin to be rich. The Private
pool villa day! We got into the golf car and the attendant dropped us at the
Pool villa.
I love hotel bathrooms! The private pool was facilitated
with a Jacuzzi. Soon I grabbed my free mock tail , got into my bathing suit and
slipped into the water.
Adjoining the villa and right outside the pool was a
Patio space with 2 deck chairs, to sun bathe.
Alongside the Patio |
We really don’t need sun bathing however we did relax on the
Deck chairs for a bit. Soon after, we headed for some recreational activities
like cycling and Bamboo rafting. Very famous in kanchanaburi is the Bamboo
rafting, basically you sit on the tied bamboo Raft while a person pedals you
across the massive river, which after sometime takes you into Nirvana, as you
can hear nothing but birds chirping, feel nothing but the cold breeze of air y
and overlook the long stretched hills. After this little stimulating ride , the
hotel van picked us up and took us back to the hotel, as we had covered a large
area in Bamboo rafting, hence they provided the Van.
Later on by evening we headed to the bar and and guess what;
there was a pool party there for the Russian group which had arrived in the
afternoon. It was awesome fun taking a back seat on the deck chair and enjoying
watching people drunk dance and throw each other into the pool. The music was throbbing;
we enjoyed every bit and soon after went to our villa and fell asleep. With eventful
2 days of fun (sanuk in Thai) we spend out great 1st Anniversary
with love and enjoying the picturesque nature.
