A slice of heaven! A trip to Swiss Valley Hip Resort in Suan Phueng

A slice of heaven is all you need when you want to unwind. Fresh breath of air, alluring landscapes to lose oneself’ in the picturesque surrounding is the best stress-buster. That’s why if you ask me scenic destinations or beachy? It has to scenic, where; when I open my eyes, it should feed me PEACE!

This anticipation slowly made me escape into a dream and made me arrive at this Swiss –alike setting.

In the tropical heat of Thailand, lies a province called “Suan Phueng,” which literally translates to Garden of Bees. Approximately 2 ½ to 3 hours drive from Bangkok  in the heart of Ratchaburi district you will find this town with European  look and feel . From the time you elope into Suan Phueng each corner will have a separate resort with similar theme– Windmills, Horse Ranches, Sheep grazing, lush green land.

                                                    

Drive or hire -a- car

 But it’s a must to take a vehicle as I did not remember seeing any Songthaew or Tuk-Tuk( Thai auto-rickshaws)  around . We hired the cab for 3 days, which is 2 nights and 3 days and in all we paid 7000baht. Well you can always have a cab to drop and pick you up later and bargain for just pick-and-drop service and Walk around to discover other recreational activities. If you like walking, why not!

Recreational activities around town: As we drove up the town to land at our destination – The Swiss Valley Hip Resort, we found many recreational activities as well – All looked pretty much similar, but good enough to spend your day’s time. There were ATV motors tracks, Kayaking, Paintball, and Archery. FYI you will Archery in almost all the resorts around the town as well!

Too bad for us we could not do much in the recreational activity list! Barely, Archery and Kayaking

Look to die for:  It’s an architectural delight! Having European inspired cottages and resorts build around on every nook and corner. This fancy land leaves no stone unturned to stand by and have a picture clicked.

Swiss Resort: As you enter, you will find lush green pastures of land swathed in trees.  At the entrance you will be welcomed with a huge cement-made massive name tag erected on the green patch towards the entrance.  Opening the gates to whole new world, which is very difficult to imagine can exist in the parameters of Thailand. Swiss valley which mimics European theme interestingly has all the names of the rooms based of various varieties of wines.

For example …

Syrah (Shiraz  - Well, European pronounce it as Si-rah )– Pinot Nior –  Riesling- Cabernet Sauvignon – chardonnay – Rousanne (The room which we stayed in ) – chardonnay and more adds to the list!

Every wine ranging from Germany to France and from white to red! All of it had been tagged as names for the rooms! How very innovative!

The Room: Be prepared to dig a hole in your pocket if you plan to visit during the peak time like October to November, it’s almost double the rate. The room rates were between 5000 THB to 15,000 THB. Depending on the size and quality of the room, we paid around 8000 THB for one night. Breakfast included  Leave aside the price, It’s not a room it’s a painting in itself. The room or these mini cottages were completely adorned with tiny vintage antiques and collectibles.  Every artifact was like a living tale.  So cute and attractive.

The room we stayed in – Rousanne, was very chic and classy. It had some ceramic figurines of beautiful women, loom knit balls, floral fabric lamp shades, a Brass telephone which was decorated with artificial flowers around it; making it look very attractive. Giving an opportunity, I would’ve taken it home then and there.

The White – washed concrete walls has some pretty frames hung on them and a queen-size bed with lovely printed cushions and soft toys on the bed. European cane- made hats added to the charm of the beautiful setting on the bed they had created for the guests. The air was so optimistic and the feel was so vibrant and attractive.

Food/Restaurant:

Expecting a nice gusto meal, we were really looking forward to some wood-fired pizza and some pasta and grilled delights. But to our surprise, they did have an Italian menu but more emphasis was paid to the Thai side of the menu.

Since many expats are not aware of this place, it’s majorly frequented by Thai locals. I remember calling for some spaghetti which was not available then, hence we opted for a margarita pizza which was a disappointment. The crust had become soft and the taste was not great either! My mom called for Fish and Chips which was surprisingly very tasty, but that’s about it.  But soon we realized looking around at what the Thai’s were ordering; we played safe and called for – Thai food. Which was far better!
                                          

Wine Caution – You might consider indulging in some amazing French wines, I did! I called for the red house wine! But to my horror, I encountered some very long kept wine glass from the shelf with cobweb around it. My wine glass had an ugly cobweb sitting on the mouth of the glass. I didn’t even think of ordering a substitute then. Settled rather for a local Singha beer with my hubby

Leisure Activities : With a varied range of activities within the resort, you can pretty much spend a day enjoying these leisure do’s.  From sheep grazing, where they let you feed the herd of sheep for as long as you want to Horse riding where you have horses and ponies at your disposal.

If you are animal lover, you will be falling in love with this place! From chirping birdies sitting on the trees to rabbits jumping around in rabbit burrow. Also watch the graceful white swans swimming across the pond.

Go explore some leisure activities you always would love to try on hands on! Archery is an amazing activity which will glue you in completely! Also, the pool looked massive, but since I already have one in my building, I didn’t bother slipping in the pool.

Besides, there is a fitness centre with Sauna room and they also have a vineyard which looked pretty ok, look around to spot the grapes!
